Itching to write, nothing much to say....annoying.

What swims around my head these days is often work related and completely confidential which makes writing here more tricky lately.

So here's just some basic news of what's been happening in my wee world.

After reading Stella's inspiring curvy Friday post I went to the mirror and took this. I hate this kind of thing but I really felt the need to embrace my own rounded curves that I had been beating up on in my mind all day. (As I have done EVERY day since I was a newly developing 9 year old girl). Time to stop yeah. Please excuse my slippers..and the blurry ness...and the straight out hard core poesy-ness. ugh

Just to change the subject...
Last week my biggest boy turned 14!

We spent his birthday eve at the yearly maths competition he competes in with his super brainiac mathlete team. They did pretty well getting 7th or 8th (I couldn't even work that out) from over 60 teams from all around Canterbury.

Meanwhile I can't quite believe that Goose and I have been doing this parenting gig for that many years. My squishy curly haired big eyed baby now has a voice I often don't recognise. I've been caught out thinking a grown man is talking at times. His legs are officially way hairier than mine in the dead of winter (pits too! yelch didnt ya'll just SO want to know that) and I'm debating with Gooseman as to when we attack the mo forming on his lip.
He can appreciate adult humour with us, appropriateness aside, it makes for good company from the man child.

Teen hormones raging and I love that he has stayed true to himself. He's still our Ben. Prefers his own company rather than fill the house with his friends day in-day out, therefore he still spends a heap of time with us, his family,  and I'm actually appreciating that because the others very well may not choose to at the same age.
He's doing extremely well in school and helps out heaps around the house. Bottom line he's pretty cool to have around, I love that we are being eased into this teenagedom in a nice way, because it does get a pretty bad rep.

Since I'm now working where it is my JOB purely to engage with other people's tweens and teens it has made me look at making more effort to ensure I engage with my own more.

At work it's so easy to play a game of cards, do some art and craft/baking or take spontaneous outings and actually try to have conversations with those kids.
Yet at home way too easy to sit back in front of the t.v and let my kids do their own thing, tell them to shhhh so I can hear the news etc. My new job is making me way more mindful of this type of thing.

I've decided I really would like to get my house sorted. We currently have a half done paint job inside and out after finding out we have to have the painters back AGAIN to redo their half assed job from the beginning of the year. So come spring sunshine I'll have men traipsing through and making everything mucky again.
My goal once everything is completed is new carpet and a couch.
I have this crazy ness where I start to feel thoroughly depressed when our lawns arent mowed. Gooseman got stuck into the outside yard yesterday, the grass was taller than the dog beforehand, and I was feeling way to white trash.
Today, lawns mowed, hedge trimmed, whole new outlook on life. Seriously. Thats all it takes for me.

And so I'm betting once our stained and fraying carpet is replaced I'll be AWESOME.
I'm officially declaring that it's time for a grown-up house i.e some furniture that matches, a bedroom suite even (not the drawers I still have that I had as a kid) generally just putting some extra effort into creating a home I'm not embarrassed of!

Decluttering is on the agenda too. I'm not much of a hoarder, but there are too many useless items in my cupboards taking up space.

Taking time to do this stuff is also part of my mission plan. Quite often on my days off I head to the shops or catch up with long over due coffee dates, or like now waste it on the computer...
Operation get those jobs done is my new mantra.

Just after I finish my wine....
kidding

But see there how the kindling is sitting there in a plastic bag (that the pup has now since peed on) I'm going to do things like find a thing to keep the kindling in so it looks prettier.

Actually the purpose of that photo was to show off my cute new polka-dot dress in a totally un show off  I'm a poser look at me way... heh

That day I had been paid to be at a brain development seminar. It was very interesting. At first I was worried that I would find out all about how I have screwed up my kids, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised.
The awesome speaker basically said the best thing we can do for our kids in the early years is stay home with them 24/7. Also just like look at their faces and smile sometimes when you talk to them.  Even if you're not a super parent, just an average good enough one (I can identify) it really helps with all those transmitters sucking onto the frontal cortex thingiee.
Tick.

He even said video games aren't bad for them!!
I officially started crushing on him then, he was starting to look like a young Richard Gere, until he said T.V is bad though (even the educational shows)...he lost me for a bit then ;)

Next week Ozzy and I start obedience training classes. It's beginning to feel a little weird, like mother's group gone puppies. But I'm pretty determined not to screw this pup up this time round.

So that's my newsletter for the week. Jacksta I just saw you emailed me wanting to know the haps! Well today is your lucky day my friend xxx

Until the next sporadic update

love Widge
